Honey and Porridge

Want to start the day with a healthy nutritious breakfast?  Then look no further than the enduring favourite, honey and porridge.

In the morning rush to get ready for work (grabbing a coffee on the way and checking emails), we can forget to fuel ourselves for the day ahead.

Honey and porridge is a quick and simply breakfast. It takes less than 5 minutes to make and it will save you time, money and improve your health.

Honey drizzled porridge makes for a tasty breakfast, it will keep you going throughout the day and oats in porridge have been shown to lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol and protect the body against heart disease.

When selecting your honey we recommend you go for raw honey (to get the most benefit from enzymes, antioxidants, phytonutrients). If you are interested in different honeys, now is the time to build up your collection and try a different one out each morning. You will soon notice the differences in taste (if you’re not sure how to describe the flavours, read our honey tasting guide here). One of our favourite honeys to have in the morning is Greek Heather honey, which is think and amber, fragrant and floral.

Although honey is a much better for you than sugar, it is still calorific, so whilst we encourage eating honey, don’t be too liberal with your dollops. One or two teaspoons is usually enough.

Definitely stock up on toppers for your honey and porridge bowl. Chia seeds, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds are  full of nutritious benefits and chopped fresh fruits such as bananas, pomegranate, pears and blueberries go well with honey and porridge too.
