Beeswax candles provide a soft yellow ambient glow, which is lovely to bask in. We have recently made our first batch of hand poured beeswax candles (poured with love in the UK) to complement our limited edition raw London honey. We work in small batches and we think our honey and candles are pretty special.
More than a quarter of British households now buy candles for their home and if you ask many people they’ll probably admit to not being aware of what wax they are burning in their home. Many candle users simply pick up their favourite candle, often made from standard candle wax (which is likely to be being petroleum based) and assume that it is their only option.
However, as candles increase in popularity, consumers are becoming more aware of alternative candle waxes and plant based waxes such as soy wax and beeswax are gaining a lot of interest as a petroleum wax alternative.
The Benefits of Choosing Beeswax Candles
If you are in the market for a new candle, are interested in the benefits of beeswax or want to incorporate it into your day to day life but don’t want new cosmetic or beauty products, a beeswax candle is the ideal route to take.
There are a lot of benefits to choosing a beeswax candle, such as:
- Beeswax candles are all natural and therefore do not bring any chemicals or manufactured ingredients into your home.
- Beeswax candles are long-burning and do not produce any soot. This means any unsightly black markings around the candle or wall are avoided, and the air is not exposed to any harmful chemicals.
- Honey is a popular smell and it can often be found when burning fresh beeswax candles, meaning the light smell of honey can grace any room without needing any input from man made chemicals.
- Beeswax candles release negative ions into the air. Though the science behind why this is useful is complex, in short it helps to eliminate dust and pollen.
As you can see, beeswax candles are highly beneficial to have in the home and combat many of the negative side effects that come with lighting standard petroleum based candles.
The reasons behind having candles in the home vary, but most people choose a candle that looks decorative and smells nice. In fact, candles are often thought of as being more of an aesthetic addition to a room rather than something that is added as a way to benefit the home. Though they are just as gorgeous to look at and smell just as good, beeswax benefits also bring an entirely new side to the importance of choosing beeswax candles. Unlike standard candles, beeswax candles actually have a beneficial use in the home.
